I grew up in the seaside town of Mystic, CT., and as a child, spent many hours, drawing, sketching and painting the natural beauty around me: the sea, sky, flowers and beach.
As an adult, I paint the same things. But now I use my art to reveal the beauty that we can all find in life, if we take the time to look. I show flowers, most colorful against an azure sky or the graceful curve of a boat reflected in the water.
And I paint the promise of the seasons: summer, in a sea shimmering in sunlight, or fall, in a leafy path, lit in autumn’s brilliance, leading to a special place. I choose to paint in acrylics because it allows me to most vividly show nature’s beauty.
My paintings are meant to evoke feelings of warmth, appreciation, and connection to the world around us. They are a link to past and future, touching memories and hopes that we all carry deep within. To elicit that kind of emotional response from the viewer, I work in a semi-impressionistic style.
Each day that I paint is wonderful. I consider myself fortunate to have found a way to share with others my love of nature and the beauty in our everyday lives.
I must note my tremendous gratitude to my art teacher, color coach and friend, Wylene Del Pino. A talented professional artist, she continues to inspire my work and enrich my life with her knowledge, support and lively spirit.
